Cotton Duvet Covers

i’m decorating my dorm and i got a black duvet cover and my sheets are white with black poka dots..

my room at home is earth toned.. red brick/orange colored and tanish walls and hay colored bed spread.. lots of browns and stuff.. so that’s what i’m tryin to get out of

what are some modern colors i can tie in w the black and white.. ?

I have recently painted my bedroom completely white with white curtains, red carpet and a white duvet cover (but it looks like the duvet cover can be changed). Now I want something really original to go on the white base of the walls. Something that will make people go ‘Wow I like your room!’ I’m open to any colours except browns, maroons grays, etc. I especially like blue. I have a big interest in music so that could be linked in, but doesn’t necessarily have to be. Please give some ideas!!!

Well I would say if you want a room with the wow factor you have to use quite eye catching colours. I would say this means use more red in your room design and add another contrasting colour, Green would be the obvious complementary colour but with white and red you might end up feeling like you’ve walked into christmas, thats why I would say turquoise is a good colour to add as well as its similar to blue which you like, as well as black I know its boring but its very effective if used right.

I think the best way to get visual impact in your room is to make a feature wall. It’s hard to say what would be the best way to do so because I don’t know your age of gender so I dont know whats right but I’ll just throw some ideas at you

-Possibly make a big collage wall, take music mags and collage all over a wall with articles and pictures of your favourite artists, also you could carry this through and cover any storage boxes you have in music mags too.

-Maybe a mural on the wall, something simple like a black silouhette of a skyline on the white wall would look really stylish and that way you keep the wall colours neutral so you can change the other colours in your room later.

- Backboard paint is pretty cool stuff, you could paint a whole wall in blackboard paint and then get some red and turqiouse picture frames or just big clip frames and put pics of bands/friends/places in them and then just let your friends write on you chalk board walls, that way you can use it as a doodle pad, maybe write your fav song lyrics of the time on it etc.

- Going back to the song lyrics from the backboard idea you could get a letter stencil and paint some of your fave song lyrics (quite big) on one wall, you could paint this in any of the colours.

- Red white and black lends itself quite well to the typical chinese themed room, you could do that with a twist, Maybe get your name in chinese lettering and enlarge it and paint it on your wall, or some other words which mean something to you then go for duvet sets and accessories which feature chinese symbols.

- Maybe just find some wallpaper that fits in with the colour and use that on one feature wall, also you could use any leftover paper to cover storage boxes.

I’m moving into college in a couple of weeks and need to find a dark teal bedspread/comforter/duvet cover or whatever

Peppermint has a great idea. I would suggest the sheets also. Or go to a fabric store and do the same thing. I like a fabric store or sheets. You can get what you want. On the fold of the duvet, you could use some large buttons, any kind of trim to dress it up.

Now, I am going to get my boys new beds. They are both 4. But I can’t decide between bunk beds and twin beds. Bunk beds would save a lot of room, but I like twin beds. My boys would like bunk beds more. In a couple of years we are going to get them new beds, in about 6 years, when they grow out of them. The colors in theirr room are darkish blue walls, red duvet covers, and dark brown furniture. Please tell me which bed I should get for my boys and why!

OK I have this room I would like to decorate and I am looking for new duvet covers to brighten up the room but when I asked the lady if she had actual duvets inside part she gave me this full size duvet thing for the queen size bed and she said that was all she had! I am so stressed out bc the duvet insides are like 160 bucks and I am fed up with this my budget is $6,ooo and the artwork alone she wanted is $3,ooo bucks! So my friend who is also a designer told me about these things that aren’t duvet outsides or insides its just like both together. So really its like a replacement for a duvet. But the other day when I went shopping I TOTALLY forgot the name of the thing I wanted!!! If anyone knows the right terminology for what I want or knows of a nice and cheap duvet inside and a cheap duvet outside that is black white and red.. You would be a saint!! So much I was runnning late to work and yes this bed room is huge it is literally the size of my house and is very sheek and modern but all it has in it is a queen size bed w/ mattress the lady I am working for is very specific in what she wants ands stuff and she is always snooping to see if what I bought is "high enough quality!" well its my first job so Im not going to pass it up but thanks soooo much! I’m redecorating my room and I want it to have an indie/ contemporary feel. I’m getting a firebrick red iron bed and I’m buying a royal blue and white floral duvet cover from urban outfitters. You could go with White, since you will have White in your Duvet cover. Or, you could go Blue, either dark like the Royal or, in the same family of Royal but much paler. You could paint a couple of walls White and one Wall in the Red or Blue. Really, the possibilities are endless.

Of course, your accessorizing will really seal-the-deal as far as pulling-off the Contemporary look… glass, silver, chrome, crystal, mirrors, art work, lighting. Definitely set your lighting on dimmer switches. Do not discount the effectiveness of an Area Rug to ‘anchor’ the room either, *s*.

Does anyone know where i can find a nice red or silver satin comforter/duvet cover??????

There are many places that you could look for bedding. However, if I could caution you, satin is not a good choice for bedding. It will get nicks and pulls. Basically a piling affect.

Places like Macy’s and Dillard’s carry some good high quality bedding. Also, try Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. One really good place to look is TJMaxx. It’s a great place to find great things at lower prices.

I can’t believe what I have just done.
I bought a tin of dulux "babe" – thinking it would make my bedroom into a real babe’s bedroom, and hence myself into a babe.
it is CANDY pink and not only is my room making me hungry, but also sick. it looks like a 15 year old’s bedroom. I am 28.

Someone help me. I cannot afford to buy any new paint for at elast a month. Are there any accessories I can put in my room which will make it more sophisticated? Only one wall is solid pink but theother three are whitey pink, a lot less brash. The duvet cover is red and the carpet is cream.

I will be eternally grateful for any help with this matter. The sexiest man in the village has a veiw of my bedroom walls and i don’t want him thinking i am some teenybopping princess.

try using this right now and see what colors you like. once you figured out the color you like then print it out and take it with you so they can match the paint you want! (I am so sorry about your horrible pink room- but you did make me laugh a little)! That’s funny! Dont worry it will be fine, just use the designer next time when you’re ready to buy new paint and make sure you test it out on a piece of your wall next time (let it fully dry to see the final result of the color)! GOOD LUCK! (In the meantime – go to a fabric store and buy some cheap fabric in a color you like a pin it to your wall, maybe even hang a picture too over the fabric to give it some character!

Okay so im 16 and my brother is 18, hes leaving for collage so i get his room!!!! But im not sure what to do with it. Any ideas?
