I have a Queen size bed and currently have a high thread count cotton fitted sheet on it, and my duvet cover is a cotton backing+micro suede top. The problem is that dog hair sticks to these very bad! I wash them 1x a week but within 2 days they are covered And i simply cannot wash these every other day!

I ordered some satin sheets because my boss has them (and has 5 high-shedding dogs) and said hair just sweeps right off of her sheets So i got them, in a red wine color, and i want to think about replacing my duvet cover too- I didnt want to do satin as well because I have been told it’s too slippery and the comforter will slip right off my bed

What can I pair with the sheets that makes my bed resist hair a little bit more?
I want it to be in brown if possible as i like the red+chocolate theme.

Any suggestions?
Glamorous- I have 2 Aussies currently and looking into doubling this number. I am also a professional dog groomer, my dogs are kept very well groomed.

I agree that the fur slides right off the satin–I have satin sheets, and it was fantastic for that purpose; the annoying thing being that I could never get the sheet to stay on the bed!

As for a duvet cover–I have a polyester comforter here in my dorm room and it’s great; soft and hairs, cotton, lint, and whatnot just wipes right off.

Ok, the two duvet covers sets that I have are from the "Hotel Collection" from Macy’s, I know they are supposed to be the best but they are really thick and hot plus DRY CLEAN ONLY. Then I bought a 100% cotton, over 400 thread count, they were hard, rough and super wrinkled after I washed them twice to try to get them soft..I gave them away. I just moved and sent my covers to the cleaners and I’ve been sleeping with the duvet without the covers and I love it!!!!! Is there a brand or a mix of materials I should be looking for?? Thanks.

i was painting a canvas on my bed and as i squeezed the tube of paint, it shot out of both ends, covering me and the bed (thankfully not the new beige carpet i had laid only a while ago.) I picked off the worst but obviously, rubbing it will smear it… Its not dried on… any suggestions??

If it is acrylic (which is water based) use soap and water- don’t let it dry until the paint is out. A bit of extender or gloss medium might help, but make sure you rinse well.

If it is truly oil based as you indicated (no such thing as oil acrylic) you will have to use a solvent. The good news is that cotton is pretty tough (but always test on a inconspicuous area). The bad news is that the pigment probably won’t come out all the way and your duvet might smell like a shop for a while. Whatever you do, do not put it in the dryer or you risk a fire and a damaged duvet. Good luck.

My comforter has never had a cover so i’m going to get one and im going to replace my sheets so my question is……does the higher Thread Count make a big difference or not really?

and Also, I see some that are Egyptian Cotton and some that are just Cotton, are those 2 a big difference as well?

I’m thinking if I should fork the extra $ to get the higher TC because I’m only going to buy this once and I wanna make sure these are good you know?

thank you very much

As stated above, the higher thread count, the nicer the sheets and the longer they are going to last. The Egyptian cotton is better then regular cotton by far. If you can find it, also look for bamboo fiber sheets in a high thread count. I have found those to have a nicer feel then the Egyptian cotton ones and thus far they seem to hold up as well or better.

Will it come out evenly, thats the key question!!
Any advice/ tips?
Do I dye it in the washing machine or in the bath?

If the Duvet currently has a pattern on it, the pattern will probably show through the dye. And, if the Duvet current has a color (other than plain white), that will also affect the outcome…but yes, you can dye your Duvet.

I do NOT recommend using Rit™ Dye. Rit is not very colorfast. I once dyed a pair of jeans with Rit and they turned my legs black every time I wore them — even after many washings. I finally just threw the jeans in the trash.

The best dye for your Duvet is Dylon™.

If you’d like to buy Dylon here is a shopping link for you:

http://www.google.com/products?q=dylon&hl=en&aq=f

The instructions are on the package.

I got them on ebay so it must have been a fake version or a cheap thread. I dont know! I want to know what to look for in a duvet and sheets to make them the most comfortable bed on the planet! haha! Any brands that you love?

Jersey Knit! It’s T-shirt material. I had sheets and a comforter made of jersey knit and it was SOOOOO comfortable I’ve also had sheets made off beech, birch and bamboo…all of which were also very comforable.

I’ve tried cold washing, but then realised I have used a non biological detergent.
Thats the kind that is not enzyme eating.
A biological detergent should in theory eat the dye left.
The dye was BLACK on a CREAM duvet cover it has now faded to light blue.

‘Hair spray’ (alcohol) doesnt work as I tried it out on an old tshirt.

If all else fails then I will just have to buy a new duvet cover for my Mum. Oh dear I will be in trouble.

Thanks in advance.

hair spray..let it sit over night and run cool water over and spray scrub and wash

I am creating a wedding registry and my fiance and I have chosen a bedding set from Target that has a duvet cover. We usually prefer a regular comforter, but like the design so much that we are getting it anyway. What are some ideas for the best blanket to use in the duvet? We don’t really like down, and prefer a regular-type of cotton comforter. I found two online but am unsure as to whether they’re any good (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&BRN=1&sku=14008977& and http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-5841997-6846265?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1HWDXARB3O3WK&asin=B000UBULLC&colid=36LXP976HNVCV&bckreg=cw).

Any tips? Thanks!

Cotton comforters work very well and you don’t have feathers coming through the duvet

I like the "poofy" comforters, either down or down alternative (cotton), that are thick. I like that this one is micro suede material, and comes with a 7-piece set, but I’m not sure if "duvet" comforters are to that poofy satisfaction. Is it, and do you think this comforter set is a good buy?

a duvet cover is where you place an old comforter inside of it; to give it poof!
