I want it to be cotton, I am going to make a duvet cover. I can’t find this material anywhere
I have you on my watch list in case you get an answer. Short of searching on line, I have not seen it anywhere. I suggest you go and do a search on Yahoo, there I have found a lot waffle-weave fabrics in all possible colors, also a mega waffle weave fabric, as well as clothing. There is a great selection on EBay.
Does anyone know where I can get waffle-weave fabric?
Can cotton duck material be used to make a quilt or a duvet cover?
I am interested in using some fabric to make a quilt/duvet cover for my bed.
Here is the fabric: http://www.cathkidston.co.uk/p-12780-cath-kidston-spray-flowers-cotton-duck-fabric.aspx
Can cotton duck be used to for bedding? Or is it too stiff?
Yes, it is much too stiff — it would be like sleeping under cardboard.
It should be easy to find a pattern like that in a soft muslin, percale or other soft cotton. In fact, I have seen many sheet patterns like that floral. Buying two flat sheets and stitching them together on three sides with buttons or snaps along the fourth edge is a quick and economical way to make a duvet cover. The problem with making a duvet with fabric you buy by the yard is that it is usually not wide enough and you have to make a seam down the middle or on two sides to get the width to cover the bed.
CAN YOU MACHINE WASH POLYESTER COTTON BLEND? OR WILL IT RUIN IT?
i just bought a duvet cover from nordstrom!!! online it said machine wash and now here i read on the tag-DRY CLEAN ONLY!!!!;( im really irked if i would have known this id wouldnt of bought it!!!! can i machine wash this on delicate or will i ruin this??????? it it a polyester cotton!
You have already answered your own question. The tag says "DRY CLEAN ONLY". Take it back if your so upset about it, they will refund you.
I added the following after reading some of the brilliant answers you received. Cars that use gas have "use gas only" on the cap, so should ya put disel in it? Medicine bottles have the "warning keep away from children", but mabey it’s just a way to protect themselves. Houshold products carry a label that says not to mix with other products. Lets just mix this bleach with ammonia and see what happens. Hmm wonder if they really know what there talking about. There is a reason they put things on labels, and it’s not to protect themselves. It’s to help you. So once again I say, "Do what the label says"; otherewise it’s your own fault if you don’t and it ends up ruined.
Does anyone have silk bedsheets?
Does anyone here have silk bedsheets or duvet covers? Do you like them better than say eygyption cotton? Are they generally warmer or cooler or do they adapt to the temperatures well?
i didn’t have true silk sheets, but they’re sateen and very comfortable! nice and cool in the summer yet insulated in fall and spring. i wouldn’t recommend for winter unless you have a decent central heating system.
very fun if you’re sleeping with a mate
I want to dye my bed sheets?
I have an awesome set for my oh so comfy bed. The whole thing (sheets, duvet cover, bedskirt, shams) all 100% cotton 200 thread count. They are a very very light blue. Will dying them a deep, rich color have a good result?
Yes, because they are 100% cotton which takes dye well. I would use more dye than indicated and do the duvet cover, bedskirt and fitted and flat sheets in separate loads for the best color saturation. The shams and pillowcases can probably go in a load together if they are standard size. I would also set the dye by using vinegar in the rinse cycle and then every time you launder the pieces so that you don’t get fade. I would use the hot water/washing machine method, check them frequently so that you don’t have fabric bunched up where the dye can’t get to and heat set the color in the dryer.
How does a "duvet" work?
Do I buy the part with the cotton inside and then the covers? Or does it work like a comforter??
it works just like a comforter. You still need all the other bedding to finish making the bed.
Are these comforter and duvet cover fine?
Hypoallergenic down
Hypoallergenic down fill has been treated with Ultra-Fresh, an antimicrobial treatment to prevent the growth of odor causing bacteria
10-inch end to end box stitch and double-stitched piping
The box stitch design ensures the down won’t shift and leave thin spots in the bedding
Duvet cover is made of 100-percent cotton with a 205-thread-count
Price – 70$
Sounds a little too good to be true. But it will be fine and look pretty if it’s in your budget.
A sophisticated bedroom wall colour?
I have black furniture with light brown hardwood flooring. My two duvet covers are white and purple, and then white and lime green. I would like some kind of colour on my walls other than a white. Any suggestions?
im thinking a color that goes with both green and purple could only be yellow. nothing else goes with both. maybe a pale green….that would add a lot of pop to the purple and if its a contrasting depth of shade thats in your lime green, it will compliment it too.
Could I wash a "dry clean" only duvet cover…?
I have a red duvet cover that is 65% cotton & 35% polyester with the reverse side being full 100% cotton…
I’m wondering if anyone has experience in this area – do you think I would be able to wash something like that? I have a front loading washer, so it would be gentle on it, and I only wash my colours in brights, as well as use the lowest heat setting on my dryer…would this work or is this asking for trouble? I really don’t have the money to dryclean, so I’m looking for a solution other than just airing it out.
Thanks in advance for all helpful answers!
yes, wash in cold and in a front loading washer without an agitator. Then dry on low in a large dryer so that it doesn’t get wrinkles.
How does this part of my novel sound?
It’s the 2nd chapter, so some things might not make sense. If you want to read the 1st:

tell me what you think!
–Back home (which is Blakely, North Carolina) the sun was probably shinning. The temperature was probably just right to go hang out on the beach, as it always was, and my best friend, Paige, was probably lying on the beach with her two younger brothers, Caleb and Ben. I would have been lying there on the warm, sunny beach with her if I hadn’t been dragged here.
I braced myself as I opened the door to my dorm. No matter how much I didn’t want to be here, I didn’t want to be stuck here friendless even more. From here on out I would be nothing but fake smiles.
“You must be Eleanor!” A girl said as soon as I opened the door and walked into my dorm room. She skipped towards me from across the room to help me with my bags. Her wavy blond hair hit just below her shoulders, and I could still see the tanned glow of her skin from summer.
“Ellie” I corrected her. The room had dark wooden floors and plain white walls; there were four beds spread out across the room, and a dresser for each girl. Since every other bed was taken, I set my duffle bag down on the bed beside the window.
“I’m Norah Finley. The other two girls are saying goodbye to their parents downstairs. They should be up here soon.” she said as she jumped up on her bed, which she had already made up with a pink duvet cover and white pillows with a pink embroidered N in the center. Looking at her outfit, a pink polo dress, I could tell she was a girly-girl.
I smiled with fake enthusiasm and reached into my duffle bag; I pulled out zebra print duvet cover my mom had bought me and started making my bed. I figured I might as well start setting up my side of the room. Besides, I couldn’t think of a single thing to say to Norah.
Norah was flipping through a Seventeen magazine and I was still making my bed when the door burst open. “We’re back!” a girl shoulder length auburn hair said as she ran and jumped on her bed. I laughed and watched as another girl with a dark brown bob with bangs ran into the room.
“One day here, and I’m already chasing you through the school!” She laughed. They then noticed that I was there.
“I’m Brynn Adams,” the auburn haired girl told me.
“Myers, Abbie Myers” the other girl said then laughed at her own corny James Bond joke.
“Eleanor Roberts, but from here on out, call me Ellie.” I looked over at Brynn’s side of the room and saw her simple navy blue quilt. She had already stuck a poster of Marie Sharapova. I was guessing she was into tennis.
Abbie’s side of the room was already a complete mess. Her suitcases were open; her clothes were on her peace sign quilt and on the floor. In her attempts to clean up her mess, she threw all of her clothes in a pile and tossed it into her suitcase. I smiled to myself, realizing her messiness reminded me of Paige.
“Okay, so did any of you see the guys here? Can you say FINE?” Norah dished to us. She fell back on her bed and laid the magazine on top of her blushing face.
“They were too busy giving me the stink eye for me to notice,” Brynn said as she showed us the look she’d seen.
“They did that with me, too!” At least I knew now it wasn’t because I was horrifically ugly or had something on my forehead. That was a relief.
“Same reaction here,” Abbie started. “And I heard a few guys whispering as I walked by. They said we’re ‘intruding on their turf,’” she air-quoted and rolled her eyes………
